What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
Platelets are a component of our blood. They are a rich source of proteins, called growth factors, which promote new cell growth and accelerate tissue repair. Platelet-rich plasm contains a higher concentration of platelets than regular blood. To generate platelet-rich plasm, a sample of your blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge which separates the PRP from your other blood components.
What is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-rich plasma can be used for: sprains/strains, tendinopathies, arthritis, and many other conditions. Once injection, the platelets recruit growth factors to the area of concern, reduce inflammation and pain, and accelerate healing. PRP therapy is an effective treatment for virtually any type of musculoskeletal problem.
